IXOS, a leading provider of eBusiness document management solutions, today announced its plans to integrate its IXOS-eCONserver with Microsoft's Share Point Portal Server. The IXOS-eCONserver will provide Microsoft and IXOS customers with secure long-term storage and management of large volumes of documents. Users will also be able to use SharePoint Portal Server to search and access all documents stored in the IXOS-eCONserver. Documents can originate from different sources such as ERP or CRM systems as well as customer solutions.
SharePoint Portal Server is the flexible portal solution from Microsoft that allows companies to easily find, share and publish information. Each standalone server offers enterprise-level search functionality (developed by Microsoft Research), integrated document management tools and flexible, easily customizable enterprise portal capabilities. SharePoint Portal Server provides a focal point for finding relevant information stored across multiple data sources, including SharePoint Team Services websites, Exchange data stores, file shares, Notes databases, and Internet sites.
IXOS-eCONserver is part of the IXOS-eCON Solution Suite, which IXOS announced in February. It is the core building block for IXOS's data and document archiving solutions and is designed to manage an enterprise's complete document base. IXOS-eCONserver provides exceptional scalability, performance, and security, as well as high-availability.
"We highly appreciate that IXOS is offering integrated solutions for Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server," said Christian Schäfer from the Munich Re Group. "The Munich Re looks upon integrating office productivity tools from Microsoft with eBusiness Document Solutions from IXOS as a true means to gain key competitive advantages."
"By embedding SharePoint Portal Server in IXOS-eCONserver, IXOS will provide a valuable solution to customers implementing a corporate portal solution," said Gytis Barzdukas, group product manager of the SharePoint Portal Server business unit at Microsoft. "IXOS is focused on providing customers the opportunity to implement document portals enterprise-wide and to enhance knowledge worker productivity."
