friendlyway and HP - mutual developments in the area of wLAN Public systems solutions planned
Munich, Germany (ots)
Today, friendlyway Europe and HP Germany signed an agreement covering planned mutual developments in the area of wLAN integration in public systems. The aim of this development partnership is to link POI technologies developed on the basis of friendlyway with HP wLAN components.
In future, these mutual solutions will allow public customers to call up information on the friendlyway AG Point of Information systems and download this to their mobile computer using the HP solution. Examples of concrete locations for these systems are trade fairs or airports and railway stations (so-called Hot Spots). At these new information stations the new technology will enable visitors to obtain all sorts of information such as train or bus timetables.
"This mutual initiative with Hewlett-Packard is an important step for us in expanding, friendlyway's position as the leading market innovator in the public information industry," says Klaus Trox, CEO and co-founder of friendlyway AG.
About the company (http://www.friendlyway.de)
friendlyway has concentrated on the interface between the two mega trends "online/offline" and "mobile/stationary". In the mega trend "online/offline" banks and commercial customers will bring eCommerce into the traditional branch offices. In the other mega trend "mobile/stationary" it will be possible to control and call up these eCommerce services from mobile terminals. For instance, customers will download product information on to their mobile computers and take it home with them. For this purpose friendlyway develops technological solutions and markets these via the friendlyway partner network throughout the whole of Europe and Asia and also in the US via its own subsidiary, friendlyway Inc. in San Francisco.
Because of this positioning, in spring this year "Netinvestor" magazine voted friendlyway as one of the most innovative companies in Germany. Within just 24 months friendlyway was able to improve its market position from number 13 to number 2 (see i-Business August edition 2001, published by Hightext Verlag). Just last year friendlyway won the highly respected StartUp competition organised by McKinsey, the German Savings Banks and Stern magazine and took second place among 1300 competitors from throughout Germany.
