Liechtenstein Initiative presented under the Title "Book of Europe - Firsthand Visions of the Future of Europe"

Vaduz (ots)

The "Book of Europe" contains contributions from 33 European countries on the future of Europe. Against the backdrop of the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe and the current geopolitical challenges, Liechtenstein's Prime Minister Daniel Risch and Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler initiated the project in spring 2024. The foreword was contributed by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.

The contributions come from presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, and state secretaries from 33 of the 46 Council of Europe member states. Among them are contributions from Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Spain, Iceland, Norway, Estonia, Hungary, Greece, Switzerland, and many more. Each contribution, limited to approximately 5,000 characters, presents the perspective of a national leader on Europe. This results in a diverse and multifaceted view of the challenges and future of Europe.

The "Book of Europe" will be officially presented to the public at the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg at the end of February by Secretary General Alain Berset, Liechtenstein's Prime Minister Daniel Risch, and Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler. From that point on, the book will be available across Europe. To ensure broad accessibility, all texts will be available online at www.bookofeurope.eu. The proceeds from the book project will be donated to a charitable organization.
