sunrise opens channel for donations for victims of the Asia tsunami

A quick and easy way to help
To support people affected by the tsunami in Asia, sunrise has donated CHF 100,000 and is launching an appeal for donations in collaboration with Caritas Schweiz. sunrise mobile customers will automatically donate CHF 1 for every SMS they send to the appeal number 9889 with the keyword "ASIA1". All the money will be used to help those most in need in the coastal areas which have been hardest hit by this disaster, and will be charged to customers' monthly bills or deducted from their prepaid credit. The donation appeal will continue until the beginning of February 2005.
In the aftermath of the terrible tsunami that hit Asia, there is desperate need for aid on the ground as quickly as possible, as well as an uncomplicated method of making donations. sunrise has therefore decided to offer its mobile customers a simple way of making a contribution to help alleviate the suffering in those areas worst affected. Every SMS sent to the number 9889 with the keyword "ASIA1" will automatically generate a donation of CHF 1. sunrise will assume all the costs of the donation appeal, and is also giving an additional CHF 100,000 to Caritas Schweiz for emergency aid.

Thanks to our partnership with Caritas Schweiz, we can be certain that your donations will be used efficiently and professionally. In collaboration with partner organizations of many years' standing, Caritas Schweiz will be concentrating on the regions of Southern India and Sri Lanka which have been devastated by this disaster. Food, drinking water, clothing, and medicines will be distributed locally, and traumatized survivors will be offered counselling.
