Patrick Miazza hands over lead to Martin Saxer

After nine successful years in charge of Mühleberg nuclear power plant (KKM), Patrick Miazza is to stand down as managing director of the plant on 1 January 2012 for personal reasons. He will be succeeded by his current deputy, Martin Saxer. Walter Lehmann, currently Head of Operations, will take over as deputy managing director.
Patrick Miazza joined BKW FMB Energy Ltd. (BKW) in 1993 as a nuclear power plant specialist, and took over management of Mühleberg nuclear power plant (KKM) on 1 September 2002. As head of the KKM, he was responsible for the plant's good operating record as well as maintenance and ongoing upgrades in specific areas in line with international standards. Miazza will in future apply his nuclear expertise at Group level and support the Energy Switzerland business unit in his capacity as Head of Energy Business Planning and Strategy. He will also represent BKW in various industry organisations.
Electrical engineer Martin Saxer joined BKW in August 1992, since which time he has worked for the KKM. Saxer was appointed Head of Electrical Engineering on 1 January 2002 and has been deputy managing director of the nuclear power plant since 1 November 2008. He is married and has two children.
Mechanical engineer Walter Lehmann has worked at the nuclear power plant since January 1994 and has been Head of Operations since 1 September 2002. He is married and has three grown-up children.
