Approval of BKW energy tariffs for 2009 and 2010

The Federal Electricity Commission (ElCom) has reviewed BKW's costs and energy tariffs for 2009 and 2010. In ElCom's opinion the energy costs for basic energy provision tariffs are reasonable. As part of this review, ElCom approved higher energy costs than BKW had set for its basic provision customers. Overall, therefore, the 2009 and 2010 energy tariffs were justified. In keeping with its pricing policy and in the interests of its customers, BKW gave due consideration to continuity and did not pass on all costs immediately.
In future, BKW can therefore factor in up to CHF 23 million of the cost overrun from 2009 and 2010. Whether and to what extent BKW will exercise this option will be decided at a later stage.
