Tamarete gas-fired power plant
Change in power plant company shareholdings
Bern (ots)
BKW and its Italian partner Hera S. p. A. are to take over the shares held by Zecca S.r.l. in Tamarete Energia S.r.l. power plant company in Ortona. The company operates the gas-fired power plant in Tamarete. With a capacity of 104 MW, the plant is designed to deliver supplies at peak-load times.
At the end of 2008, BKW acquired a 48% stake in the Tamarete Energie S.r.l. power plant company in Ortona, in Italy's Abruzzo region. The previous owner, Odoardo Zecca, retained a 20% interest while the remaining 32% share was purchased by the Hera Group of Bologna. Zecca has now decided to sell its shareholding to its partners. With immediate effect, BKW will hold a 60% stake in the power plant company, and the Hera Group a 40% stake. The parties have agreed not to disclose the takeover price. The plant is capable of generating up to 500 GWh of electricity per year.
BKW has been active on the Italian market for the past 13 years, operating since 2006 under the umbrella company BKW Italia S.p.A which, besides hydroelectric power plants in Lombardy and the Aosta Valley with a collective capacity of 50 MW, also has a 25% stake in the gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Livorno Ferraris, Piedmont (BKW share: 200 MW), and operates various wind farms with a collective installed capacity of 224 MW.
