Chaparral demonstrates serverless backup with computer associates at SITI in Spain

(NYSE: CA), will perform live demonstrations of serverless backup at the SITI tradeshow in Madrid, Spain, April 3-5, 2001, booth no. D17. Chaparral's FS1310 Intelligent Storage Router combined with ARCserve 2000, CA's industry-leading Server-Free Backup solution, provides advanced enterprise storage backup capabilities by eliminating network bottlenecks and maintaining high performance backup and recovery.

In conjunction with ARCserve 2000, the FS1310 Intelligent Storage Router allows critical information to be backed-up without the active involvement of a host server. This operation termed Serverless Backup, increases an organisation's ability to store data in a fast, efficient manner without impeding network performance. Serverless backup is made possible through a standard feature on Chaparral's routers called Extended Copy, enabling high-speed, LAN-free and serverless backup and restore operations. The Extended Copy capability copies data directly from disk-to-tape, disk-to-disk or tape-to-disk without first copying the data to the host server.
