CEO Bender: "Lufthansa's Support for Frankfurt Important for Airport
Expansion"
Fraport Applauds Construction of New Lufthansa
Administration Building at FRA
Frankfurt, Germany (ots)
Fraport AG's Executive Board Chairman, Dr. Wilhelm Bender, described today's construction launch of the new Lufthansa administration building at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) as important support for FRA's planned expansion. "This clear signal from our main customer here at Frankfurt is a tremendous help," said Bender in connection with Fraport's application for the regional planning procedure (ROV) on airport expansion at FRA. Bender thanked Stefan Lauer, Lufthansa Executive Board Member, who at today's ground-breaking ceremony declared: "We want Frankfurt to remain our main hub".
In September 1998, Fraport sold Lufthansa this land, which is located just north of the existing Lufthansa base at FRA. The first phase of the Lufthansa administrative office complex will feature 10 building "fingers", providing a 19,500 square meters of space for about 1,650 staff positions. Lauer stressed that, with the corresponding growth in air traffic, the complex could be expanded to provide workplaces for some 4,500 staff. An important prerequisite for this would be the creation of additional capacity at FRA, resulting from further expansion of the runway system.
