With its central location and excellent rail and road intermodal links, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) serves as an ideal base for discovering Germany's parade of festivals and other events this summer. Indeed, the surrounding Frankfurt/Rhine-Main-Neckar Region offers an especially rich blend of historic wine villages, scenic river valleys, relaxing spa towns, vibrant urban venues and forest-blanketed mountain areas such as the Taunus, Vögelsberg, Odenwald and Rhön. Most of the country's wine regions can be reached within 90 minutes. The outstanding Rheingau and Hesse Bergstrasse wine areas are less than 30 minutes away. Yes, there is something for everyone: the romantic Middle Rhine World Hertiage Valley and other UNESCO Heritage Sites; the cathedral cities of Fulda, Limburg, Mainz and Speyer; the famous castle city of Heidelberg; or Hanau - birthplace of the Brothers Grimm and the start of the German Fairy Tale Road.
