The positive development of the UV specialist Hönle (ISIN: DE000 515710 1) continued in the second quarter of financial year 2003/2004. Group sales rose in the first six month by 32 % to T EUR 10,423. All three business segments saw sales increases. Growth was most significant in the inks and coatings curing segment where sales rose from T EUR 4,710 in the first half of 2002/2003 to T EUR 6,323 in the first half of 2003/2004.
Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased during the same period by 137.8 % from T EUR 489 to T EUR 1,164. Earnings before taxes (EBT) increased by 62.4 % from T EUR 884 to T EUR 1,436. Due to losses carried forward from the previous financial year and to deferred taxes disclosed for Wellomer GmbH in the last financial year, the six-month net income of T EUR 911 was lower than in the comparable previous years period (T EUR 1,004).
The equity ratio amounts to 83.8 %.The total liquid funds and financial assets portfolio amounts to T EUR 15,634, despite dividend payments of T EUR 417 and the premium of T EUR 389 paid within the context of acquisition of the participation certificates. This corresponds to a cash proportion of EUR 2.98 per share.
Outlook: In our opinion, the positive development of the Hönle Group will also continue in the third quarter. Due to orders on hand and intake of new orders, sales and earnings are likely to rise further in the next quarter in comparison to the previous years quarter. We expect positive effects for the next quarters as a result of the Drupa trade fair taking place in May.
