Hönle (ISIN: DE 000 515710 1), a leading systems provider of industrial UV technology saw a successful start into the new year.
In the first quarter of 2004/2005, EUR 6.49 million in sales revenues yielded operating profit (EBIT) of EUR 1.39 million. Compared to the same quarter in the previous year, sales revenue was up by 33.7 % and EBIT by 228.6 %. Earnings before tax (EBT) climbed from TEUR 540 to EUR 1,545 million in the same period, and net income for the period improved from TEUR 315 to TEUR 904. Relative to the 5.24 million of Hönle shares, earnings per share rose from EUR 0.06 in the previous year to EUR 0.17 in the current year.
The good development of business also contributed to an improvement in the liquidity situation. Cash from ongoing business activities rose by TEUR 825 in the first quarter, bringing the total cash balance (cash and cash equivalents, investments, own shares) to EUR 18 million or EUR 3.44 per share.
Outlook: UV technology continues to be a growth market, where the Hönle Group has positioned itself well as a systems provider. Due to the high share of project business, the companys business development has traditionally been characterized by quarterly fluctuations in revenues and earnings. Hönle expects that second quarter revenues will be below the previous year's level. Rising new orders at the beginning of the second quarter give Management an optimistic outlook for the future, however. The companys goal will continue to be further growth of revenue and earnings, with a focus on organic as well as external growth.
