Ethertronics Ships Standard Embedded Antenna For Short-Range Wireless
Computing Applications
Reduced Development Costs And Time To Market
Mean Increased Profits For OEMs
SAN DIEGO, CA - (ots)
Ethertronics, a developer and manufacturer of high performance embedded antennas for personal and industrial wireless devices, today announced it has begun volume shipping of its standard, "off-the-shelf" embedded antenna for the 2.400-2.485 GHz frequency band. The JI(tm) Standard Embedded Antenna requires virtually no product integration effort, while delivering 50% more efficiency than competitive embedded antennas. Designed for short-range wireless computing networks in the U.S. and abroad, such as 802.11b, Bluetooth, HomeRF, HyperLAN and Wi-Fi, the JI antenna can significantly minimize product development time and costs for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
With its superior isolation properties and self-contained ground plane, the JI antenna may be mounted in close proximity to existing components and shields. These features reduce integration efforts and make the JI antenna an attractive choice for modifying existing product designs with minimal impact. Other key advantages include:
- Accelerated Time to Market - As a standard embedded antenna, requiring no customization, OEMs can shave weeks or even months off their product development timelines.
- Low Cost Manufacturing - With minimal upfront development & tooling costs, OEMs can lower a product's bill of materials cost by selecting the JI antenna over custom embedded antenna solutions.
- Integration Flexibility - OEMs can source the JI antenna for use with multiple product enclosures, leveraging volume pricing and integration flexibility without sacrificing performance or efficiency.
Ethertronics is shipping its JI antenna for use in wireless local area networking (WLAN) applications and industrial remote monitoring systems.
"Typical embedded antennas require extensive product integration, as they must be customized for a specific product enclosure," explained Bruce Gray, CEO of Ethertronics. "Our JI antenna offers simple, drop-in wireless connectivity to streamline the development process. It's a very cost-effective and time-saving solution that enables device manufacturers to bring their wireless products to market quickly."
The JI antenna features Ethertronics' patented antenna "shaping technology" which controls and re-directs the near-field electromagnetic pattern of the antenna's RF signal. This "shaping technology" delivers optimal antenna performance by improving signal strength and voice/data quality inside buildings, in urban canyons and in fringe network coverage areas.
The JI antenna measures 25.4 x 7.6 x 6 mm and weighs less than 1 gram. For a detailed product specification sheet or to place an order, please contact the Ethertronics Sales Department at 858-550-3820 or info@ethertronics.com.
