Interliant's Lotus-Based INIT Team Offering Creates Effective Teamwork Environment For Britannia Airlines
Interliant Inc. (NASDAQ:INIT), a leading provider of managed infrastructure solutions, today announced an agreement with Britannia Airways, one of the oldest continuous names in British airline history, to implement and host a dedicated INIT Team solution in Interliant's UK data center. The Interliant managed solution, which ran as a pilot project for six months before the current contract was finalized, is designed to enable effective project management and communication among different business units within Britannia Airways.
Interliant's unique INIT Team solution leverages the base technology of Lotus QuickPlace 2.0, Lotus' revolutionary new collaboration tool that enables the instant creation of a shared team workspace on the Web. The INIT Team solution enhances and extends the QuickPlace software with additional services and functionality. This hosted offering is designed to provide a collaborative environment that is customized for the needs of different types of teams and can be managed directly by end users, without the involvement of IT staff. INIT Team also can be integrated into existing corporate intranets and extranets.
"The pilot phase confirmed that INIT Team is a cost effective tool," explained Iain Andrew, IT Director, Britannia Airways. "The creation of an instantly accessible shared teamwork environment for projects across the entire organization has proved essential in effectively managing internal projects. In addition, we are able to include people from outside the organization without compromising on security or functionality. Interliant is providing set up, data backup, monitoring and high-speed access, and I am confident that its secure hosting capabilities will offer us the best possible collaborative solution for our needs."
"Interliant is uniquely positioned to bring the advantages of collaborative software like Lotus QuickPlace to the market," commented Neil Turner, Managing Director, Interliant UK. "The INIT Team solution we have implemented for Britannia Airways provides a secure, dedicated, hosted environment that removes technical and financial barriers to cross-organization implementation. Many organizations are realizing the value of these collaborative solutions and, in a competitive marketplace, Interliant is able to provide the reliability and expertise that companies demand to support these applications."
