International Roaming Network Configuration - Calling whilst abroad couldn't be easier
Lausanne (ots)
Orange will be making some changes to its network settings to make calling whilst abroad as easy as pie. And all Orange customers will automatically receive these new settings via an SMS sent to their mobile phone, enabling them to take advantage of this new service without further ado.
For Orange users abroad on holiday or on business, checking the messages in their Orange Box can be a complex process, involving either a caller identification procedure requiring a special code and symbol or switching through the available service-providers manually to find one that recognises their automatic caller identification settings. And calls from and to Switzerland are often not identified at all!
But thanks to the new Orange network settings, for a group of network-providers abroad this will be a thing of the past. The caller identification Orange customers are used to and are able to use as standard on their home network will be available for an increasing number of calls to and from other countries, automatically. The new SIM card settings required for this will be sent out directly via the mobile network in an SMS.
"These new settings are to be introduced on a gradual basis to ensure that whilst abroad our customers are offered networks that support their accustomed caller identification and our outstanding service quality, whether in terms of network coverage or GPRS roaming for example. And as Orange offers uniform rates abroad irrespective of the roaming partner involved, our customers are winners from every angle," explains Andreas Waber, Product Marketing Director.
Not all mobile phones will register the new settings in the same way and a SIM activity message may appear on some models. Customers should not worry about this; the message will disappear automatically.
