BlackBerry for businesses
Orange is the first mobile phone operator in Switzerland to offer a BlackBerry solution with the new BlackBerry 7290 and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0. With the BlackBerry solution, which is particularly suitable for medium and large national and international companies with 50 or more employees, Orange is further expanding its mobile office offer.
For some time now Orange has offered mobile access to email, contacts, calendar, to do lists, etc. using various devices (SPV, SonyEricsson P800, P900, P910; Nokia Communicator 9500, Treo 600, etc.) and various platforms (Microsoft Exchange Server, Extended Systems solution with OneBridge for Lotus Domino, etc.). Orange is now the first mobile phone operator in Switzerland to offer a BlackBerry solution with the new BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0 and the new BlackBerry 7290 device.
The BlackBerry 7290 is a quad band mobile phone (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz), which integrates all email, calendar, organiser as well as Internet browser and SMS functions. The QWERTZ keyboard and simplified navigation with the trackwheel enable easy and intuitive handling. The 240 x 160 pixel screen displays over 65,000 colours and the Bluetooth interface makes it possible to use a wirefree headset to make calls.
Offering secure access to company email, Internet, intranet, messaging and organiser applications, the BlackBerry 7290 is an ideal device for people who want to work productively and efficiently while on the move. Measuring 11.3 x 7.5 x 2.2 centimetres (length x width x height) and weighing 139 grams, the all-in-one device is compact enough to fit in your pocket. The battery provides up to 4 hours of talk time. Standby time lasts up to 9 days.
In addition to "push" technology for personal information (email, calendar and contact entries, memo, to do lists) the BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0 also enables email filter settings and out-of-office messages to be controlled through the Blackberry 7290. Together with its improved capacity to handle email attachments (e.g. conversion from JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG and TIFF images to smaller formats for faster downloads) the server also offers simplified application development capabilities and supports the most up-to-date security standards (including AES and Triple DES). The BlackBerry solution can be integrated into previous systems (Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino and Novell GroupWise) and enables connection to company-specific applications (SAP, ERP, CRM) as an open platform.
