Company Information
Euskirchen/Freiburg, Germany, 9/21/2009 - Covering a surface area of over 80,000 m2, the largest solar power plant in North Rhine-Westphalia is currently being constructed in Troisdorf, near Siegburg/Bonn in Germany. With a total output of 3.5 megawatts, the ground-mounted solar farm Oberlar will provide clean solar power to approximately 1,000 households in the region. The public utility company Stadtwerke Troisdorf is acting as the contracting party for the solar power plant. The 15,500 modules are being provided by Solar-Fabrik AG, with F&S solar concept in charge of planning and installation. Once the project is completed, the plant will generate 3,290,000 kilowatt hours of solar power each year and will thus make an important contribution to basic energy supply through renewable energy. Consequently, it will be possible to save more than 2,200 tons of CO2 climate gas each year.
The public utility company Stadtwerke Troisdorf is acting as the contracting party for the solar farm Oberlar. "We no longer just wanted to be mere energy providers, but also contribute through innovative measures to an energy transition," declared Peter Blatzheim, CEO of the public utility company. "In F&S solar concept we have an experienced project developer for planning and construction." In addition, F&S solar concept has also overtaken the comprehensive analysis and planning process as well as ensuring a smooth construction process.
Due to the fact that their reliability and durability significantly determine the yields of the solar farm, German products have exclusively been chosen for all photovoltaic components. The close to 15,500 solar modules, all of which have been manufactured at the Freiburg-based Solar-Fabrik, comprise the core of the system. "More than 13 years of experience, one of the most modern production plants for modules, German quality criteria and the extensive manufacturer's guaranties are all factors that have convinced us," explained Georg Schmiedel, CEO of F&S solar concept.
