Company Information
Meldorf/Freiburg, Germany, 1/18/2010 - The largest solar power plant in Schleswig-Holstein set up through community involvement will be inaugurated today in Nindorf (near Meldorf), Germany. The ground mounting "Nindorf-Farnewinkel solar farm" will provide clean solar power to approximately 1,000 households in the region, with a peak capacity of 3.45 megawatts (MW) on 200,000 m2 of land. The 15,000 modules were provided by Solar-Fabrik AG, with Aldra Solar as general contractor in charge of planning and installation. Completed at the end of last year, the plant will now generate 3.3 million kilowatt hours of solar power each year. Consequently, it will be possible to save more than 4,400 metric tons of CO2 each year.
The Nindorf-Farnewinkel solar farm is a community initiative set up by the Nindorf town council, which commissioned Aldra Solar to implement the project. The project was planned, contracted, and installed entirely by this local company. 105 limited partners provided nearly EUR 10 million in financing for the project. Aldra, the town of Nindorf, and the local water works (in charge of managing the solar farm) have all acquired shares, too.
Convinced by Good Working Experience with Solar-Fabrik The 15,000 modules provided by Freiburg-based Solar-Fabrik are essential to the plant. Due to the fact that the reliability and durability of the components significantly determine the yields of the solar farm, German products have exclusively been chosen for all photovoltaic components. "Solar-Fabrik has been our main supplier of modules since the beginning. We have chosen to use their high-quality products due to our previous good experience with the company," asserts Bernd Sönnichsen, Managing Director of Aldra Solar.
