Solar-Fabrik AG (ISIN: DE0006614712) achieved another quarterly high with revenue of ca. 80 million euros in Q4 2010, pushing the Group´s annual revenue to 228.496 million euros and beyond all forecasts. The Group´s EBIT of 10.588 million euros - i.e. ca. 4.6% - and 0.64 EUR earnings per share represent a clear record high in the Company´s history.
Revenue in Solar Power Systems accumulated to 227.279 million euros at year´s end, compared to 135.542 million euros in 2009. The EBIT result of 11.318 million euros (2009: 839,000 euros) clearly demonstrates the positive trend and further supports the strategy in place. In light of the 2.014 million euros provisions for anticipated losses the results must be considered even higher.
Results in Solar Cell Production were -762,000 euros in 2010 (2009: 915,000) - primarily driven by write-offs of 230,000 euros on SEP goodwill and 462,000 euros on fixed assets.
Solar-Fabrik AG entered into 2011 with bookings of 120 MWp, based on the three focus markets Germany, France and Italy. While Q1 revenue is on a level comparable to 2010 the prospect for the rest of 2011 has changed due to several aspects. The new feed-in tariff in France has clarified the situation for all investors and put more emphasis on integrated rooftop solutions, a market segment where Solar-Fabrik has been successful for several years already. In Italy, the previously stable market environment was put at risk by short term political initiatives, which have moderated in the meantime and are expected to be settled short term enough to allow for a stable Q2 market environment, again. Germany is expecting another Q2 pull-in effect driven by the agreement to reduce the feed-in tariff in July based on the expected 2011 installation rate. On a global scale we generally expect a more favourable market environment after the March 11 event in Japan and its aftermath.
Driven by another year of cost reduction PV solar systems continuously get closer and closer to grid parity, primarily in the Mediterranean sunshine states. Solar-Fabrik is adjusting its regional focus towards these markets by establishing adequate sales structures for the years to come.
