Hamburg, August 20, 2003 In the first half of 2003 broadnet mediascape posted revenue of TEUR 12,356 compared with TEUR 5,541 in the corresponding period in the previous year, which is an increase of 123 %. In the first half of 2003 the Group improved the EBITDA of minus TEUR 2,715 in the previous year to minus TEUR 359, and therefore by 86.8 %. The Groups EBITDA for the second quarter was minus TEUR 474 after TEUR 116 in the first quarter of 2003. The positive EBITDA in the first quarter of 2003 was due to a one-off effect in the other operating income of TEUR 1,023 net from the agreement with a major supplier on services purchased. There was also a one-off effect in the other operating income which improved the result in the second quarter. This was generated from the positive operative result of the subsidiary company broadnet mediascape dsl services AG and because of this, the dissolution of negative goodwill for the second quarter totaling TEUR 479. The EBIT of the broadnet mediascape communications Group in the first half of 2003 was minus TEUR 7,640 (previous year: minus TEUR 4,706). As of June 30, the Group had financial resources amounting to TEUR 29,824 compared with TEUR 39,770 on December 31, 2002. While, due to one-off payments, the cash consumption from continuous business activity was still TEUR 7,572 because of one-off payments in the first quarter of 2003, this sank on a lasting basis to TEUR 1,427 in the second quarter, meaning a drop from TEUR 2,524 to TEUR 476 per month.
