Winter closes the fiscal year 2002 with a negative EBIT of 6.6

Olching near Munich, 16th February 2003. Winter AG, the Prime Standard-listed chipcard manufacturer released its preliminary figures according to IAS, for the fiscal year ending 2003, today, subject to the results of the annual audit.
Turnover to 31st December 2003 amounts to 29.5 million EUR; EBIT is minus 6.6 million EUR. The planned figures of 31 million EUR in turnover and minus 4.3 million EUR in EBIT could not be achieved. The reasons for this is the absence of turnover in the "Cards" area, not as planned realisable earnings in the "Card Services" division and further strong pressure on prices due to overcapacities on the market. Despite considerable cost savings, we did not succeed in compensating the reduction of turnover of existing customers with turnover of new clients. The final figures according to IAS to 31st December 2003 will be released on 31st March 2003 with the background of the new orientation of the company.
With decision of the supervisory board of 16th Februar 2004 Gerhard Osterrieder, member of the mangement board, has been released from his duties as with immediate effect.
