Quality Improvement in Swiss Tourism
Bed and Breakfast Switzerland has just received the Quality label Level 1, which is given to tourist organizations who fulfill the demands of the Swiss Federation of Tourism, the initiators of the program "Quality label for Swiss Tourism". At the same time, since the month of May the Swiss Organization of private accommodations has provided through its website www.bnb.ch a series of self-study manuals for training in the field of tourism.
Bed and Breakfast Switzerland decided at its autumn 2002 session to put every effort into obtaining this Label. It was a real team challenge, which has been rewarded today.
In addition to being evaluated by the Federation, Bed and Breakfast Switzerland had to commit to implementing 3 new measures per year during 3 years, aiming at improving performance in the fields of promotion and organization of its organization. These measures are mainly centered around the edition of the guide "Bed and Breakfast Switzerland" as well as the constant improvement of the website www.bnb.ch. Much remains to be done in the field of the para-hotel business. Bed and Breakfast Switzerland knows it and is committed to working in this direction.
In its press release at the end of January, Bed and Breakfast Switzerland had announced that from now on every accommodation was classified by means of stars and that over 60% had been visited and checked out. Today this figure has increased to over 70%. In this way the organization guarantees that accommodations are rated in a defined class and strictly respect the minimum criteria. Since the month of May, its members have the possibility to order self-study manuals for training in the fields of hosting and management.
At the request of SOL - Swiss Occidental Leonardo, Bed and Breakfast Switzerland distributes self-study manuals in the form of pdf. They can be ordered from the website www.bnb.ch.
Split into 10 modules, they cover the following subjects: General Module, Marketing, Bed and breakfast, Camping, Water recreation Cycling, Walking, Equestrian module, Guiding and Entertainment. These manuals are aimed at persons wishing to take up a full or part-time activity in one of the proposed fields.
Bed and Breakfast Switzerland is an association founded in 1996 by Cathy Renggli (Chambres d'hôtes Valais 13*), Dorette Provoost (German-speaking Switzerland), Nicole Neyroud (French-speaking Switzerland), with the cooperation of Laurent Tabin (Webmaster of the site www.bnb.ch ).
The 2003 edition of the guide "Bed and Breakfast Switzerland" is on sale for CHF 20.- in all good book stores (ISBN No. 3-9521512-4-6). All offers are also available on www.bnb.ch, the site is updated regularly with new members.
