Basler AG, one of the most renowned specialists in the vision technology field, generated second quarter 2007 turnover of Euro 12.9 million, thereby emulating the previous year's level (second quarter 2006: Euro 12.9 million). In the first half of the year, turnover rose by 7% to Euro 24.4 million (first half-year 2006: Euro 22.9 million). The result before taxes in the past quarter amounted to Euro 0.3 million (second quarter 2006: Euro 1.9 million) and was dominated by higher production costs and investments in product developments and market cultivation. The first six months of 2007 brought a slightly positive result of Euro 0.2 million (first-half year 2006: Euro 2.7 million). Compared to the previous quarter, incoming orders increased by 39% to Euro 15.3 million (first quarter 2007: Euro 11 million) and hence to the second-best quarterly amount ever reported. The highest level of incoming orders was recorded in the previous year's quarter (second quarter 2006: Euro 19.1 million); however, due to an extensive major contract, the figures are not necessarily comparable. In the first six months of 2007, incoming orders came to Euro 26.3 million (first half-year 2006: Euro 31.4 million).

In the second quarter 2007, turnover in the components business (Vision Components) rose by a 13% to Euro 7.0 million (second quarter 2006: Euro 6.2 million). Turnover in the first half year amounted to Euro 13.3 million (first half-year 2006: Euro 11.6 million, +15%). Incoming orders reached a new record level rising by 14% over the previous year to Euro 7.4 million in the second quarter (second quarter 2006: Euro 6.5 million) and in the first half-year by 20% over the previous year to Euro 14.6 million (first half-year 2006: Euro 12.2 million). The second quarter segment result in the components business before taxes and interest amounted to Euro 1.2 million (second quarter 2006: Euro 1.8 million) and in the first half-year to Euro 2.0 million (first half- year 2006: Euro 3.3 million).
Second-quarter turnover in the systems business (Vision Systems) came to Euro 5.8 million (second quarter 2006: Euro 6.6 million, -12%). Turnover in the first six months amounted to Euro 11.1 million (first half-year 2006: Euro 11.3 million, - 2%). Incoming orders in the Vision Systems segment in the second quarter rose by 211% over the previous quarter to Euro 8.0 million (first quarter 2007: Euro 3.8 million, second quarter 2006: Euro 12.6 million). Total incoming orders in the first six months amounted to Euro 11.8 million (first half-year 2006: Euro 19.2 million). Second-quarter earnings before taxes and interest came to Euro -0.9 million (second quarter 2006: Euro 0.3 million). In the first half year of 2007, the segment result amounted to Euro -1.6 million (first half-year 2006: Euro -0.2 million).
In the second six months of 2007, we expect further lively demand for our
cameras in the component business. Due to rising demand in the flat screen industry and our first major turnover with the solar industry, the systems business is set to grow once more in the second six months of the year.
In the second half of the year, we expect a higher gross margin and largely stable operating expenses, leading to a significantly positive result before taxes. Accordingly, we confirm our forecast for the overall year 2007 and continue to plan turnover in a band between Euro 51 and 57 million (2006: Euro 52.1 million) and pre-tax profits between Euro 2 and 5 million (2006: Euro 4.9 million).
