Zurich (ots)
cablecom has been commissioned to modernise the cable network of Helvetia Patria Insurances. The value of this contract, which has a term of several years, amounts to more than three million Swiss francs. By connecting the nationwide branch offices to the IT center, central data processing will become even faster than it is already.
Helvetia Patria Insurances have commissioned cablecom to modernise their nationwide data network. Based on close cooperation between NextiraOne and cablecom, the project amounts to more than three million Swiss francs and will be carried out over several years. As a result of the modernisation, about 50 branch offices will benefit from a high-performance network connection. Apart from accelerating central data processing, the upgraded network will enable data traffic and IP telephony (Voice over IP) transmission over a single network infrastructure.
Freedom of choice on the last mile with improved availability
At a majority of the locations, the network will be upgraded with optical fiber connections. Peter Abt, Head of Network and Security Operation at Helvetia Patria comments: "The modernisation will give us increased flexibility in the future in that we will be able to make extensions without having to change the transport medium. Thanks to the network upgrade, our branch offices will benefit from higher speeds and improved availability. " As regards the reason for choosing cablecom and NextiraOne, Peter Abt says: "We were fully convinced by the solution proposed by the two companies. By means of a parallel backup network which is based on independent technology while providing the same bandwidth, the performance of the entire corporate network will in future be significantly increased whereas the costs will be lowered."
"The fact that we have been awarded the bid shows the strength of our cooperation with partners such as NextiraOne. This close cooperation allows us to realise even the most demanding and complex projects", Frank Boller, Director of Business Markets at cablecom is pleased to say. In addition to Helvetia Patria, the clients of cablecom business include companies such as The Baloise Insurance Company, Migros and various Swiss Cantonal Banks.
"The cooperation between cablecom and NextiraOne is a perfect match, as it combines the technological know-how of an IP carrier with the service expertise of an integrator. The fact that we have been awarded the contract by Helvetia Patria confirms that there is a genuine client need for this kind of cooperation", comments Gianluca Desimone, Vice President Marketing at NextiraOne.
Competition between different infrastructures benefits Swiss companies
Cablecom continuously and consistently extends its infrastructure. Over the last five years alone, the company has invested roughly two billion Swiss francs. This has given rise to competition between different infrastructures in Switzerland from which both private and business customers benefit, as it lowers prices while at the same time improving the services provided. Having one of the most innovative and powerful infrastructures in the country, cablecom is the first company to offer so-called quadruple-play services, i.e. television, Internet as well as fixed network and mobile telephony from one source.
