· Half-year sales rise by about 79 percent · Positive EBIT
Constance, 2 August 2004 - Sunways AG (ISIN DE0007332207) continues its successful development in the first half-year 2004 and has outperformed its own forecasts. From 1 January to 30 June 2004, Group sales rose by 79 percent to 26.8 million Euro (prior year: 15.0 million Euro). Positive Group EBIT, which rose from -1.9 million Euro in the prior year to 1.0 million Euro, were generated for the first time. The per share result increased to 0.06 Euro (prior year: -0.14 Euro).
In the second quarter, Sunways was able to increase its sales by 70 percent to 16.3 million Euro (prior year: 9.6 million Euro) as well as to improve profitability. The EBIT margin in the second quarter was 7.4 percent. At 1.2 million Euro (prior year: -0.7 million Euro), earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) were positive. The reasons for this satisfactory business development were the increased propensity to invest in solar energy as well as the high demand for innovative products, such as, e.g., the new generation of Sunways Solar Inverters launched in 2003.
