FAILED PARTNERSHIP Medium-sized German company files claim against global player Samsung
The history of CCP, a medium-sized company from Zuffenhausen, Germany, is a drama in multiple acts. It shows what happens when a highly innovative company attracts the attention of a global player, but not their respect. But one thing has always helped: US liquidated damages law. This German David has now filed a claim against global player Samsung. by Sönke Iwersen (Handelsblatt, Germany)
DUSSELDORF. Just minutes ago, he was enthusing about a million dollar deal, but now Chin Yoon suddenly mutates into a Korean version of Rumpelstiltskin. He shouts. He roars. The stocky Vice President of Samsung grabs his black diary with both hands and smashes it onto the conference table in front of him. It was Friday March 17, 2009, and the other people at the Hilton Hotel Vienna stared dumbfounded at the raging Yoon. "What kind of businessman are you?" the Korean shouts. "Do you have any idea who you're talking to?" Facing him on the other side of the table is Roland Widuch, the authorized representative of CCP Systems a software vendor from Zuffenhausen, Germany. A man who thought he knew his dialog partner. After all, they had negotiated for months four years previously. The bottom line was Widuch's biggest deal: between the tiny CCP from Zuffenhausen and the giant Samsung from Korea. The authorized representative at the time secured the biggest contract the 25-man company from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen had ever seen. For the whole article please see: www.greenwich-ag.de/presse
