On Sunday evening (local time) Charlize Theron was awarded in Los Angeles with the Oscar in the category "Best actress in a leading role" for her acting performance in the drama MONSTER.
e-m-s new media AG (WKN 521280/ ISIN DE0005212807) owns all German-speaking DVD-rights (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) of the drama, which is based on a true story. e-m-s will publish the film on its own. In addition e-m-s owns the cinema-rights for Germany and Austria and the TV-rights for the German-speaking market.
The film will be pbubished in the cinemas by the 3L-Filmverleih. e-m-s will participate on the profits of the cinema-proceeds in a considerable degree. Beside the Oscar the leading actress has already received the Golden Globe and the Silberner Bär. The company expects clearly increased sales of the DVD-version. The German TV-rights have been already sold to the ZDF last night.
The TV and cinema revenues have not yet been considered in the previous sales and profit planning. Up to now the management expected, that the consolidated EBIT will be doubled in the fiscal year 2004 in comparison to last year. With the Oscar award the chance of increasing sales are clearly improved. Now, it is assumed, that the consolidated EBIT of e-m-s will grow stronger than it has already been published.
