Cologne, 2 May 2005 - antwerpes ag, Cologne, (ISIN DE0005471007 // Symbol 547100) has achieved sales totalling 2.6 million euro in the 1st quarter of the financial year 2005, which corresponds to an increase of 8 per cent when compared to the same period in the previous year (2.4 million euro). Compared to the 1st quarter of 2004, the Communication division recorded a slight drop of 4.6 per cent in the accounts - which were adjusted by the sales figure for the Berlin branch that was closed down on 30.06.2004 - going down to 1.1 million euro. Sales in the DocCheck division increased by 41 per cent, rising from 1.0 million to 1.5 million euro. In the 1st quarter, which has seasonally weak margins, a break-even result of 0.01 million euro was achieved at EBIT level, just as it was in the previous year. Increased costs of about 0.1 million euro within the Group as a result of the implementation of the special dividend on 07.02.2005 and the marketing expenses involved in launching the DocCheck Job Exchange in March are included in this result. The result from ordinary business activities dropped by 0.05 million euro, going down from 0.21 million euro to 0.16 million euro, as a result of the special dividend totalling 14.8 million euro and the lower interest revenue. Profit per share amounts to 2 cent (2 cent). The total amount of liquid funds and current-asset securities was 16.1 million euro or 2.73 euro per share at the end of the 1st quarter.
