GeoLogistics Selects Geac for Financial Software Support in Two-Year US$940,000 Contract
Markham, Ontario and Studley, England (ots/PRNewswire)
- Geac provides worldwide high availability support to mission-critical finance systems
GeoLogistics, a global provider of integrated logistics and transportation services, has awarded a two-year contract worth approximately US$940,000 to Geac (TSX: GAC, NASDAQ:GEAC), a global enterprise software company for Business Performance Management. Geac's global support centre in Manchester will now provide direct support to approximately 300 GeoLogistics finance staff using Geac System21 Financials software across 39 worldwide sites. Additionally, Geac's support offices in the United States and Asia will also provide local service in relevant timezones for full support to users around the world.
Richard Bayston, Director, Global IT Financial Systems for GeoLogistics, said: "Over the last few years we have steadily standardised our financial software requirements with Geac. There are clear benefits from using one accounting system worldwide which can handle all the necessary local languages and legal requirements. Geac has been well established within our business since its systems were first implemented in our UK operations in 1989, and it makes perfect sense for us to use their expertise directly for all financial software support issues."
Using Geac System21 Financials software throughout the organisation has already allowed GeoLogistics to simplify its operational environment, enabling it to cut costs whilst providing staff with the tools to increase productivity and improve customer service and customer satisfaction.
Geac System21 Financials provides GeoLogistics with a worldwide view of data across the entire business. It also provides a global standard for GeoLogistics' financial processes and the ability to incorporate new operations easily.
Geac System21 Financials runs on an IBM iSeries 825 and all operations are linked via a global data network managed by AT&T. The iSeries server is hosted by Digica within its operations centre in Nottingham.
Charles Kirk, CIO for GeoLogistics, concluded:
"This agreement is testament to our commitment to Geac. We're a global supply chain business and we need a partner who will literally 'follow the sun' with us. We could have selected a 24 x 7 low cost IT support operation, but our business is based on having high availability systems. The only way we can be sure of this is to work directly with Geac to access its finance systems expertise in all of our major territories spanning Europe, the US and Asia. Geac is able to provide us with local culture and language support, which is vital for maintaining happy employees and customers. We're in this supply chain together."
