Esprit Fuels Growth Plans With Geac
Ratingen, Germany and Studley, England (ots/PRNewswire)
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System to Embrace Hundreds of Product Developers Across Europe and Asia
International lifestyle group Esprit has fuelled its growth plans and capability for future development with a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution from Geac(R) (TSX: GAC, NASDAQ: GEAC). The QuestPLM software is supplied by RunTime, Geac's specialist division serving the apparel and footwear industry. This latest investment cements a long standing relationship with the lifestyle group, and will involve QuestPLM being accessible to hundreds of users across Europe, Asia and USA in order to promote greater design collaboration.
Headquartered in Ratingen, Germany, Esprit designs, sources and sells lifestyle products designed under the globally recognised Esprit brand. Active throughout more than 40 countries Esprit operates 631 directly managed retail stores, 766 partnership stores and over 8,900 wholesale outlets.
QuestPLM is crucial in enabling Esprit to manage the complicated and sophisticated processes around this global operation. The Hong Kong 'sourcing office' continuously updates supplier relationships to find fabrics, base garments and follow up on the production process which all results in its products being shipped across the world. QuestPLM will be critical to the efficiency of this key operation.
Dr. Dirk Seifert, Chief Operating Officer for Esprit, outlined what the investment will mean for the group: "Our international scope means we are continually looking to move into new markets, which in turns creates a need for agility and supply chains that can get our brand into new territories quickly and without complication."
Tom Van Soest, International Sales Manager for Geac's RunTime business, said: "Esprit and Geac have enjoyed a long standing relationship that has evolved into a true partnership. The QuestPLM solution supports a great deal of Esprit's operations and their move to open licensing is indicative of their large commitment to the system. This will mean that Esprit's designers all over the world will be able to benefit from using our collaborative design system."
Dr. Dirk Seifert concluded: "This upgrade and expansion of our systems stands us in very good stead for future development. Like any retailer we know we cannot stand still and optimising our supply chain, product management and distribution strategy are key to our growth."
