Twilfit Invests in Geac PLM System to Ensure 'Innovation Becomes an Every Day Event'
Waltham, Massachusetts and Studley, England (ots/PRNewswire)
- Fashion Retailer Set to Increase Collections From Four to 10 Per Year With New Product Development Software
Twilfit AB (www.twilfit.se), a Swedish ladies fashion and lingerie retailer, has invested in a complete range of collaborative product development tools from Geac(R) (TSX: GAC, NASDAQ: GEAC). The software from RunTime, Geac's specialist division serving the apparel and footwear industry, is expected to go live in early 2006. The integrated solution incorporates StyleTime, ColorTime, KnitTime, QuestPDM and Quest Merchandiser, and will be used by designers, product managers and visual merchandisers in the Stockholm head office.
Twilfit began in 1922 and now has 48 retail outlets. It recently decided it needed to replace a manual design system which relied heavily on transferring information between standalone systems such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel and PowerPoint. Instead it wanted an integrated system to connect all design and production departments to make it easy for product managers to find information at all times; to shorten lead-times as well as being able to hand out guidelines and sales books to their shops to get more control of the presentation of new products.
Anders Arnborger, CEO for Twilfit said: "We investigated other solutions, but due to the many capabilities within the Geac solution; the positive experiences we have seen from other Geac customers in Sweden and the security that lies in the fact that Geac solutions are used by so many customers in our industry made Geac the ideal choice for us.
"This 'turn key' product lifecycle management (PLM) solution will help us to constantly develop new products. Our customers are always returning to our stores and expect to see new designs and so we're now aiming to get new products on the shelves every two weeks. We can achieve this with our new Geac solution as we no longer need to reinvent the wheel every time we design a new product. It promotes far greater efficiency as it will connect all the processes from idea generation to production and in-store merchandising. It is a major move to go from four to 10 collections a year, but we'll be able to do this as the integrated product will enable our design teams to make innovation an essential part of their everyday duties."
One of Geac's key differentiating factors is its integrated Quest Merchandiser software. This will enable Twilfit to visualise new 3D designs as they will appear in-store. It will be possible to manipulate images to assess the effectiveness of window and in-store displays to promote maximum impact at a very early stage of product planning. Essentially it will help formulate the design and production plans.
Steen Waever Poulsen, international sales & business development manager for Geac's RunTime business, concluded: "Speed to market with the right designs is a concept that is critically important for fashion retailers like Twilfit who need to compete with other leading fashion brands and retailers on both innovative designs and the high availability of the right stock. Our system will help from merchandising, designing to product development and this will help Twilfit streamline its entire supply chain and ensure it gets new designs right first time. Our software will help them to be fantastically responsive to market needs."
