Bi-Xenon Directional Headlamps - A ... Historical Innovation
Paris (ots/PRNewswire)
Just like its illustrious forefather the DS, the new Citroën C4 will be fitted with a directional lighting system, produced by Valeo and developed with Citroën, which offers optimum visibility in bends.
The C4's boomerang headlamps, synonymous with the Citroën style, include a technological innovation from Valeo: dynamic directional lighting. This new generation of electronicallycontrolled directional headlamps enhance the driver's visibility considerably in bends.
This new lighting system, comprising motorized Bi-Xenon headlamps which swivel by 15degrees in in each direction from the frontal position, works on both high and low beam. The electronic control unit - which processes data supplied by the speed and steering angle sensors in real time - pilots the rotation movement of each lamp. The lamps therefore automatically provide a beam of optimum intensity to light up curves and bends on the road ahead.
Record visibility giving comfort and safety
The system allows the driver to become aware of bends sooner, and to anticipate his actions as much as possible.
By improving the visibility distance in bends by 90%, this innovation makes a significant contribution to road safety and to the driver's comfort.
A system for automatically adjusting the height of the beam also ensures maximum protection against the risk of dazzling drivers coming from the opposite direction.
These headlamps, which are also on the Citroën C5, constitute an original stylistic element which emphasizes the technological image of the front end.
