LED Headlamps for the Renault Fluence Cutting-edge Design Combined with Safety and Efficiency
Paris (ots/PRNewswire)
Fluence, Renault's latest four seater concept sports coupé, has an elegant and dynamic silhouette. Its headlamps are attractively elongated, thanks to the use of Valeo's twin-strip LED technology, echoing the vehicle's flowing lines. The Renault Fluence, one of the stars of the 2004 Paris Mondial, has an ultra-streamlined front incorporating impressive headlamps. These feature twin-strip LED bulbs fitted beneath two curved, clear glass lenses, making a significant contribution to the car's modern look. As well as adding great stylistic detail, the LED lamps, which respond to the steering angle, offer all the advantages of dynamic directional lighting in terms of safety and comfort.
Directional lighting using fixed lamps
On each side of the vehicle, twin strips of LED bulbs are arranged in a curve that produces a beam of light whose direction is determined by the gradual lighting up of the LED bulbs. In a right-hand bend, for example, as soon as the wheel is turned, the LEDs on the right side are gradually lit from the inside outwards, so that the inside of the bend is illuminated.
This system offers the advantage of dynamic directional lighting using static lamps. The LEDs do not move: they are controlled by an electronic module.
An attractive lighting system and a record lifetime
LEDs contain semi-conductors which convert electrical energy directly into light. Their strong beams, small size, excellent reliability and low energy consumption make LED a key technology for the future of lighting systems. As the lamps last longer than the vehicle itself, automakers do not even need to consider the practical aspect of changing the bulbs. The compact size of LEDs also provide for great flexibility in front-end design.
The next generation of LED headlamps should soon be in use on top-of-the-range vehicles.
