Atmel Introduces the Industry's First 1-Mbit Serial EEPROM in an 8-lead TSSOP Package
San Jose, California (ots/PRNewswire)
- Reduces Cost, Space, and Power for the Next Generation Hand Held Applications
Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML) announced today the industry's first 1-Mbit device in an 8-lead TSSOP (4.4mm) package. As the largest manufacturer of Serial EEPROMs worldwide, Atmel offers the industry's widest product portfolio of Serial EEPROMs & Flash in 2-wire, SPI and 3-wire protocols. The AT24C1024B is the newest member of the 2-wire family of devices designed with Atmel's advanced EEPROM technology, making it possible to fit a 1-Mbit EEPROM in an 8-lead TSSOP package. Previously, the highest available density by the industry was a 512K-bit. The AT24C1024B is also available in a SO8 narrow body, and 150mil JEDEC SOIC (3.8mm) and features a 2-wire protocol with clock frequency up to 1MHz.
The AT24C1024B features two input addresses which provides designers with maximum flexibility to cascade up to four AT24C1024B devices on the same bus, thus increasing the overall storage density up to 4-Mbit.
The AT24C1024B operates from 1.8V to 5.5V and is ideal for a wide range of consumer, industrial and medical applications. The TSSOP package enables manufacturers of digital cameras, game cards, PDAs and other portable consumer products to increase the memory capacity for storage, while offering slimmer and lighter products.
"A 1-Mbit, 2-wire Serial EEPROM device in 8-lead TSSOP packages is another first from Atmel," said Bassam Khoury, Atmel's Managing Director for the Serial Interface Product Line. "This is in direct response to many of our customers' requests for a Serial EEPROM device in space and height constrained applications."
Availability and Pricing
The AT24C1024B in the 8-lead TSSOP package is available now. Pricing starts at US$1.70 each for 10k pieces. Both the 8-lead JEDEC SOIC and 8-lead TSSOP are offered in Pb-Free (Green), Halogen-Free and RoHS compliant packaging with the industry's high reliability NiPdAu finish.
