Atmel Introduces High-Performance Secure Microcontroller for Mobile Payment and Mobile TV
Paris and Rousset, France, November 13 (ots/PRNewswire)
- ARM SC100-based Product Ensures Highly Secure Digital Transactions
Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), announced today the introduction of its AT91SC464384RCU, the newest addition to the AT91SC Advanced Telecoms product family. Based on the ARM(R) SC100, this secure microcontroller targets mobile payment and mobile TV applications. It features an outstanding on-chip compact ROM program memory of 464K Bytes, a flexible 384KB EEPROM for data, and 18KB of RAM. Communication interfaces are ISO7816 and Single Wire Protocol (SWP).
The mobile telecoms environment is moving towards the convergence of the wireless, internet, contactless and TV broadcasting worlds. The smart card is at the heart of this convergence, and the need for increased security must be met. Through the adoption of new technologies such as NFC, TCP/IP and Smartcard Web Server, the smart card's responsibility is increasing and is becoming a key and individual security element within this complex environment.
With the AT91SC464384RCU, Atmel offers the ability to secure highly sensitive digital transactions. This device, with its high-end security features, targets Common Criteria EAL4+ certification, thereby assuring total security for mobile TV and mobile payment applications.
"In addition, the mobile telecoms, through the ETSI standardization body, selected SWP as its NFC solution. Atmel provides an SWP interface fully compliant with the ETSI specification which is expected by end of 2007. This high performance, low power device is designed as such to host Operating Systems integrating latest technologies," stated Laurent Sustek, Atmel's Technical Marketing Manager for Advanced Telecoms Secure Microcontroller Solutions.
Availability
Development tools and literature are available upon request and the first ROM codes are already set for bulk production.
