WISekey recruits Daniel Stauffacher to lead its Public Sector and International Organizations division

WISekey expands the activities derived from WISekey's participation at the latest World Summit on Information Society
Mr. Daniel Stauffacher, former Ambassador, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs/WSIS Swiss Executive Secretariat has accepted WISekey's invitation to join as President of WISekey Switzerland and to take the position of Vice President Public Sector and International Organizations for WISeKey SA. Daniel Stauffacher will assist WISekey in promoting the eID project launched at WSIS and to reinforce the global partnership lead by WISekey and OISTE Foundation to expand the use of Digital Identification as part of the WSIS "Pledge to Connect the World" with the aim of increasing digital connectivity to 1 billion people by 2015.
Daniel Stauffacher (b 1953), former Ambassador, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs has a Ph.D. in law from the University of Zürich and a Master's degree in International Economic Affairs from Columbia University. After working for the Swiss private sector, he joined UNDP in 1982 and worked in New York, Laos and China. He joined the Swiss Federal Office for Economic Affairs in 1990, where he was in charge of Financial Co-operation with Central and Eastern Europe. In 1995, he was posted to the Swiss Mission to the European Union in Brussels as Counsellor for Economic and Financial Affairs. In 1999, he became Ambassador and the Swiss Federal Council's Special Delegate to the preparation of the Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the Follow-up to the World Summit for Social Development (Geneva, July 2000). Ambassador Stauffacher was in charge on behalf of the Swiss Government of the preparation of the World Summit on the Information Society that was held in Geneva in 2003.
