USU, an international provider of Business Service Management (BSM) solutions, announced it is partnering with Tideway Systems, a recognized leader in Application Dependency Mapping (ADM),to provide customers a single source for comprehensive, ITIL-compliant Business Service Management. The OEM agreement allows USU to integrate Tideway Foundation into its Valuemation product line, enhancing the features of its Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The solution will enable enterprises to automatically scan, map and load physical and virtual server topologies into the Valuemation CMDB, eliminating the need for manual entry of configuration data. Foundation discovers all hardware devices on a network and the software components installed on them, making the reciprocal dependencies between IT applications and business processes transparent. Advanced dependency visualizations highlight the impact that technical components have on business services, making troubleshooting easier and improving service cost calculations.
Given today´s highly complex IT infrastructures and the increasing use of change management processes, ADM is a key factor in implementing a BSM strategy. Even those enterprises that have already implemented an IT Service Management (ITSM) system will benefit from the optimum data quality provided by automatic detection of interrelationships between IT components and applications, as well as the significantly reduced effort required to detect and map these dependencies. Customers can thus increase their flexibility to act knowledgably and effectively, be able to resolve emerging problems faster and monitor their business activities in a more effective, sustained manner, minimizing IT risks and thus risks to their business.
"Such automation of processes is fundamental for our CMDB solution. Now, with integrated discovery and dependency mapping, we´ve closed the last coverage gap in our CMDB. We see a huge market potential, at home and abroad, for this kind of fundamental feature in Business Service Management," stated Peter Stanjeck, in charge of USU product strategy.
"Tideway and USU provide the market with a complete, single solution for automatic discovery of both packaged and custom applications, including the critical dependencies between them. Our partnership will deliver fast time to value and ensure our customers can be confident in the quality of the crucial data used to populate their CMDB and drive effective BSM," said Peter Grant, who owns global field operations for Tideway.
