Stéphane Schwarz Named Design Director at Nissan Design Europe

Nissan has announced the appointment of
Stéphane Schwarz as Design Director at Nissan Design Europe (NDE),
the company's vehicle design studio in Paddington, London.
In his new role, 38-year old Schwarz supervises a team of
designers at Nissan's European design centre. He reports directly to
Satoru Tai, Vice- President of Nissan Design Europe and is involved
in Production Programmes as well as Advanced Design developments. He
also focuses on the Perceived Quality of Nissan's products which is
key to leveraging Nissan's brand image and design identity.
Schwarz earned a Bachelor of Science in Transportation Design from
the Art Centre College of Design in Switzerland. Since joining Nissan
in the Design Department in 1994 he has led a number of projects,
including concept and show cars such as Fusion and Kino as well as
production cars with the new Primera. More recently, Schwarz led the
Primera minor change for Nissan in Europe.
In 2003, Mr. Schwarz became Associate Product Chief Designer at
Nissan Design Centre in Japan where he worked cross functionally -
including product planning, marketing and engineering - on various
design projects until the final Design Selection for Production.
NDE opened in January 2003 and is home to over 60 international
designers, modellers and support staff. The studio's mission is to
design the next generation of Nissan cars for Europe. It will also be
involved in global design projects and play a strategically important
role in Nissan's creative network comprising seven design studios
worldwide.
Nissan employs around 12,000 people in its European design,
research and development, manufacturing, logistics, sales and
marketing operations. Last year, the company sold 542,292 vehicles in
Europe.
