"After a 20-year journey, we believe Infiniti is ready... with a fresh, distinctive choice for Europe's most discerning customers," said Mr. Ghosn
The original Infiniti FX debuted in North America in 2003 and since then has become a favourite of media and owners alike in markets around the world, including Taiwan, South Korea, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia and China. The Infiniti global network currently includes more than 240 dealers in 15 countries.
The all-new Infiniti FX50 is a radical expression of sport and style - offering exceptional levels of power, refinement, safety and driving exhilaration. Created as a fusion of sports car and SUV, with breathtaking design, sports car-like proportions and an advanced sports car platform, the new FX50 is a showcase of Infiniti's design and technology leadership.
The FX50 is powered by a new 390-horsepower 5.0-liter 32-valve V8 engine with Infiniti's advanced Variable Valve Lift & Event (VVEL) technology. The engine is backed by a new 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and solid magnesium paddle shifters. Other performance credentials include standard Intelligent ATTESA E-TS(TM) Four-Wheel Drive, suspension with active Continuous Damping Control, Rear Active Steer, large 4-wheel disc brakes with Intelligent Brake Assist and 21-inch lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels.
FX50's sporty interior is designed to combine a driver-oriented cockpit/command center with a warm, modern, comfortable passenger environment - all wrapped in rich, natural materials. The high-tech interior design includes an Infiniti signature "double-wave" instrument panel and white and violet electroluminescent gauges, sports seating, intuitive controls and advanced audio, navigation and entertainment systems ranging from an 11-speaker Bose(R)-developed audio system to Infiniti Intelligent Key, Intelligent Cruise Control and standard Around View Monitor system.
"With its athletic stance, its long, sleek nose and the roofline with its coupé arc, you can see immediately how our designers have artfully blended sports-car DNA with the high shoulders and imposing presence of an SUV." said Carlos Ghosn. "From October, Europeans will have that opportunity to experience for themselves the feeling of Infiniti.."
The FX50 will be displayed along with three other Infiniti models at the Geneva Motor Show: G37, G37 Coupé and EX37. Infiniti Europe has established its headquarters in nearby Rolle, Switzerland.
