Research Triangle Park, North Carolina (ots/PRNewswire)
- Harris' Local Support Teams to Provide Full Service and Support for Rapidly Expanding Network.
Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), a leading global supplier of wireless equipment and services, today announced a three-year, full-service maintenance contract with Vmobile Nigeria, one of the country's leading wireless network operators. The contract includes all maintenance of Vmobile's microwave network backbone, with full-time, in-country Harris support for emergency on-site repairs and upkeep. Harris currently provides a "super-highway" microwave radio backbone for Vmobile, spanning more than 1500 kilometres across Nigeria, and its TRuepoint(TM) microwave digital radios are being used to facilitate the aggressive expansion plans of the network.
This contract underlines Harris' commitment to providing Nigeria with the highest quality wireless technology available. Harris' investment in developing localised services gives Vmobile around-the-clock access to experienced technical engineers who can efficiently service the equipment, keeping wireless traffic flowing throughout the network. Currently, Vmobile is approaching three million active subscribers, covering over 60 cities and 2,500 communities across Nigeria.
"Our successful existing relationship with Harris ensured they were the best choice to provide such an important service contract for our expanding network," said Mr. Frikkie Vermeulen, chief engineering officer of Vmobile. "The satisfaction of our customers is our main aim, and Harris not only delivers the top-of-the-line technology we require, but their local support team ensures that the service is always operational."
"Vmobile's aggressive expansion schedule requires a team dedicated to delivering superior service that complements Harris' high-quality wireless equipment," said Mr. Darryl Parker, vice president of International Sales and Service at Harris Microwave Communications. "Our team of local service staff and maintenance experts is experienced with local conditions in the field, and they are available at all hours."
Harris leads the wireless backhaul industry with its newest product family, TRuepoint(TM), the first universal platform for point-to-point digital communications. TRuepoint's modular, software-selectable architecture supports both PDH and SDH applications, enabling service providers to address multiple applications and deliver multiple services throughout their networks.
