companies/Annual Report 2007
23 April 2008 - asknet AG, a leading provider of outsourcing solutions for global software distribution via the Internet (Electronic Software Distribution - ESD), today published its annual report for 2007.
The company, which is listed in the Entry Standard, completed its first full financial year at the stock exchange with significant increases both in sales and service revenues, thereby exceeding its growth targets. Sales revenues of the asknet Group improved by 55%, reaching EUR 64.9 million, the Group´s service revenues showed a 42% increase to EUR 8.8 million. The strongest growth impulses again came from the eDistribution network segment, particularly from outsourcing solutions for software designers and providers. After having generated more sales from the outsourcing business than from the resale of software products via its own portals for the first time in 2006 already, the company´s business in online-shop solutions for international software providers again showed significant growth in 2007, increasing by 79% to EUR 44.4 million.
The Group`s vigorous drive for internationalisation also showed significant progress during the period under review. For the first time, sales revenues generated abroad were higher than those in Germany. The US business volume alone more than doubled in 2007, reaching EUR 16.2 million and thus accounting for more than a quarter of total sales revenues for the year. At the same time, the Group´s customer base was significantly expanded both in terms of number and size of customer companies. Next to large customers like Nero and Ipswitch, the company acquired a considerable number of medium-sized software providers as business partners whose products hold attractive growth potential.
As planned, the company succeeded in significantly reducing both its operating result (EBIT) and net result in the 2007 financial year. EBIT improved to EUR -3.0 million (previous year: EUR -4.0 million), the net loss for the year dropped from EUR 5.8 million in the previous year to EUR 2.7 million in 2007. The improvement in productivity was due to the positive effects generated by the high degree of scalability of the asknet platform technology.
"In 2007 we made significant progress in the internationalisation of our business, the expansion of our customer base and the consolidation of our position as a technology leader in eDistribution solutions," says Gerald Prior, CEO of asknet AG, and continues, "In view of the number of new customer contracts announced recently, we feel fully confident that we will achieve the increase in sales revenues forecasted for 2008 as well as further significant improvements in service revenues and results."
The Annual Report 2007 of asknet AG is available in German language as of today from the company´s website on www.asknet.de. The English version of the Annual Report 2007 will be available by 30th April 2008.
