Karlsruhe, February 25, 2010 - According to the German organization Bitkom (Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media), "in 2009, smartphones allowed mobile Internet use to finally gain widespread acceptance." Internet flat rates have eliminated the barriers to using mobile business applications that were formerly caused by complicated rate structures for data transfer. Besides the media, it is primarily online retailers who can hope to benefit from these developments.
In his function as Chairman of the Bitkom working group on eBusiness, Dr. Dietmar Waudig, COO of asknet AG, will moderate the CeBIT panel entitled "Developments in Mobile Business," to be held on March 3, 2010 at 10:20 a.m. The discussion will focus on future trends in mobile business as well as their effect on business models, user behavior, the economy (market players, etc.), and society.
At the end of 2009, asknet AG carried out a survey of 400 smartphone users on the east and west coasts of the USA. The results show that one third of US consumers are unhappy with the high cost of mobile apps and complicated payment mechanisms.
asknet's Mobile Shopping Cart, which has been enjoying success since its launch at the end of 2007, was developed specifically as a user-friendly solution that allows customers to buy and download software or products directly using their mobile phones.
