Leonding (euro adhoc) - In the course of plant enlargement, the Rosenbauer
Group's competence center for compact vehicles and fixtures, which is located in
Neidling, Lower Austria, has been expanded with new halls for profile processing
and component manufacture. The new buildings have an area of around 5,400m² and
also include a high-bay storage warehouse, an automated long material store and
additional office space. Furthermore, a 1,500m² shed has been erected for
operational activities such as testing in the course of vehicle handovers. All
in all, these projects have involved an investment volume of 10mEUR.
In Neidling, which is sited near the regional capital of St. Pölten, Rosenbauer
manufactures Compact Line vehicles, components and the COMFORT fixtures system.
The Compact Line consists of small vehicles on pick-ups with weights of up to
5.4t, trucks with original box structures of up to 8.0t, and vehicles with large
area structures and a total weight of up to 13t. The COMFORT system includes
equipment supports and fixtures installed in vehicles, as well as manual and
electrical lifting and lowering devices for portable pumps, ladders and other
heavy items. In addition, Neidling has workshops and two service vehicles, which
enable it to serve as a service and sales point for the Lower Austrian fire
services.
Since it was taken over in 1990, the Neidling works has been continually
expanded and in recent years has been turned into an extremely modern
manufacturing location. At the start of the new millennium, the plant's
production technology was brought up to the state-of-the-art and in 2007 a
further enlargement program was launched owing to a large increase in production
output. This resulted in another increase in manufacturing capacity of around 50
per cent. On the one hand, this expansion program involved the expansion of the
plant site to 41,000m² and the addition of 13,000m² of hall space. The plant was
also fitted with a new paint shop, which employs the latest technology including
heat recovery, which has resulted in a reduction in emissions.
In 2012, the Neidling plant's sales revenues rose to 30mEUR. Current annual
output consists of roughly 250 COMPACT LINE trucks with lightweight
superstructures and integrated components, which apart from the COMFORT fixtures
system, include SCBA holders, supports for FOX portable pumps and crew cabin
doors. Employee numbers have also risen continually in step with plant
expansion and additional apprenticeships have been created. Today, Neidling has
workforce of 200, including 13 apprentices and the company also employs 43
leasing personnel.
