Aesch, July 3rd, 2007 - Christ Ultrapure Water AG, part of the Christ Water Technology Group, has obtained three orders from a major European power station constructor and a utility, including a coal-fired power station in Poland and a combined power station in Brazil. The total order value represents a double-digit EUR million figure.
The project in Poland involves the country´s hitherto largest coal-fired power station in Belchatow with output of 833 MW, which was designed specifically for low CO2 emissions. CHRIST is providing the entire treatment for the cooling and feed water. The power station is to be commissioned in October 2010.
The project in Brazil involves a combined power station with output of 490 MW which is operated using the waste gas from the furnace of a steelworks. The use of waste gas is an environmentally-friendly method of generating electricity as this gas is normally discarded. The demineralization system is designed as an outdoor system. With both projects, Christ UPW AG is working alongside local partner companies and thus is once again sending a clear signal of the further internationalization of its project business.
CHRIST CEO Dr. K.M. Millauer comments on this as follows: "The approach we have pursued for years of concentrating our strategic efforts in the energy sector has proved to be correct. The Power & Petrochem Business Unit is now benefiting from both our procedural developments and from the sound investment climate in the energy sector."
