The Department of Waste Management and Pollution Control in the Republic of Botswana has awarded Aqua Engineering SA (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Christ Water Technology, a contract for upgrading the Gaborone Wastewater Treatment Works. The value of this contract is roughly EUR 8.5 million.
The order is for the design and supply of the electro-mechanical equipment for the upgrading of the existing works from the current 40,000 m3/d to 65,000 m3/d. The process comprises an extended activated sludge plant with nutrient removal. The plant also includes an anaerobic digestion system and mechanical sludge dewatering. The project duration is approximately 18 months.
