Hamburg, December 18, 2006. Nordex AG is broadening its already favorable market position in the United Kingdom and is now supplying 26 N80/2,500 kW turbines for the Scout Moor wind farm under a contract worth around EUR 61 million. The customer is UK wind farm developer Peel Wind Power Limited, a subsidiary of the leading UK property and transportation group Peel Holdings Limited. This brings the business received by Nordex in the United Kingdom since January 2006 to a new total of 215 MW.
The Scout Moor wind farm will be located roughly 30 kilometers north-east of Manchester on the Rossendale / Rochdale border. Turbine delivery is scheduled to start in November 2007, with the turbines to be connected to the grid in spring 2008.
"This contract confirms our strategy of focusing on strong-wind turbines particularly in windy regions such as the British Isles. The N80 is one of the most powerful serial produced turbine ranges currently available in the market. All in all, over 330 N80/N90 (2,300 / 2,500 kW) turbines are in use around the world. Only few other turbines in this output class have proven their merits to the same extent as this model," says Carsten Pedersen COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex.
