Nordex AG is continuing its successful collaboration with npower renewables, one of the largest wind farm operators in the UK. Now, it has been awarded three new contracts worth a total of around EUR 90 million by the UK subsidiary of German utility RWE. This includes the largest onshore scheme in the south of England to date, the "Little Cheyne Court" wind farm. Comprising 26 N90/2300 kW turbines, the wind farm in Kent will be completed by Nordex on a turnkey basis and go into operation as of the beginning of 2009. A further five N60/1300 kW turbines are to be hooked up to the grid at the end of 2007. The projects in Lincolnshire ("Spencer Farm") and Caithness ("Bilbster") also form part of the contract which has now been received.
"For us, this contract marks the latest chapter in a success story. In 2006, Nordex UK generated new business worth EUR 220 million, thus achieving its best-ever year," explains Carsten Pedersen, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex AG. Npower renewables is also satisfied with its joint activities with Nordex. Says Wayne Cranstone, Head of Project Delivery: "We are really delighted to be working with Nordex again so soon and look forward to further joint projects in the near future."
