Nordex AG and the ERG Group have signed a contract for the supply up to 44 N90/2500 kW wind turbines for the "Fossa del Lupo" wind farm to be built in the south Italian province of Catanzaro, with a capacity of 110 MW. Located at an altitude of around 800 meters the site is expected to generate a total annual output of some 250 GWh, sufficient to provide more than 80,000 households with electricity and simultaneously avoiding green house gas emissions of approximately 250,000 tons/year.
The contract is valued at around EUR 104 million. Construction is to commence in October 2008, with the wind farm scheduled to go into operation within 2009.
"This is the second major project for ERG and underscores the strong partnership which we enjoy with this important customer in Italy. The strong demand for the N90/2500 shows once more that this turbine is ideally suited for locations in Italy," explains Carsten Pedersen, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex AG.
"Nordex is an important partner and we consider this collaboration to be strategic for the realisation of our development plans in the wind business in Italy and abroad" commented Raffaele Tognacca, Managing Director of ERG Power & Gas (ERG Group).
