Nordex AG is making further preparations for its continued business growth. The producer of wind turbines has now successfully completed all the preparations for the construction of its new headquarters in the Langenhorn suburb of Hamburg. The move from four separate buildings located in the greater Hamburg region to the "Nordex Forum" is to take place next year. "This marks an important step in our expansion course. Looking forward, we will have a modern building complex which will keep pace with our growing space requirements to optimum effect," says Thomas Richterich, CEO of Nordex AG.
The new headquarters have initially been configured to provide space for 600 employees. In a second construction phase, it will be possible to double this capacity to 1,200 employees if neces-sary. Over the next few years, Nordex wants to create additional jobs at its headquarters. "We are very pleased with Nordex's deci-sion. The company will be remaining in the Hamburg metropolitan region and, with this new construction project, providing impetus for the building sector. At the same time, the extensions to the Company's headquarters are sending out a positive signal for the job market. It also testifies to Hamburg's recently growing status as a home to wind power system producers," says Axel Gedaschko, the Senator of Economics and Labor of the City of Hamburg.
The developer, builder and ultimate owner of the "Nordex Forum" is construction services company Hochtief, which was awarded the contract in 2008. With a gross floor area of 15,200 square meters, the thee-part building is being constructed on a plot of land measuring 10,000 square meters on the premises of the former Ochsenzoll hospital close to Hamburg Airport. In addition to office space, the building comprises conference and communications rooms as well as providing underground parking for 179 cars. The project is being executed in the light of ecological principles. Thanks to the use of renewable energies, it betters the require-ments stipulated in the Energy Savings Ordinance by substantially more than 20 percent. Hochtief is seeking the "Silver" certificate awarded by the German Society for Sustainable Construction for the new Nordex headquarters.
Nordex had retained the services of planning company vonhave-projekt to analyze the building requirements and to organize the request for proposals. This company is continuing to advise Nor-dex during the construction phase.
