Following directly on from the award of the "Bergama" 90 MW project, Nordex has now also obtained a further contract from Turkey for ten N90/2500 turbines, which are to be supplied for the "Bandirma III" wind farm as of autumn 2009. As well as this, the customer As Makinsan has signed a premium service contract with Nordex.
"Bandirma III" is the first wind farm project for As Makinsan, a group of companies engaged in tourism as well as textiles, construction and selling petrol. Nordex will be constructing the 25 MW wind farm in flat grasslands close to the port city of Bandirma in West Turkey. With wind speeds averaging 7.4 m/s, it will achieve an annual yield of around 72 gigawatt/hours, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of around 36,000 Turkish households and resulting in the avoidance of over 70,000 tons of greenhouse gases.
Nordex first entered the Turkish wind power market in April 2007 with the "Yuntdag" 42.5 MW wind farm. Encouraged by the favor-able market outlook, it established a local company in April of this year and is currently building the "Mazi III" (22.5 MW) and "Kores" (15 MW) wind farms. "The receipt of two firmly financed contracts within the space of only a few days confirms the expectations witch we have of the high-growth Turkish market," says Carsten Pedersen, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex.
